The MIV team is calling on you to save the start of the new school year for as many children as possible entering kindergarten and primary classes at the EPP MAHAZENGY public primary school and its annex school.
The start of the school year in Madagascar will be on September 14. Unfortunately, many children entering nursery and primary classes in the schools with which we are in contact in Fianarantsoa do not have the means to finance their school year as well as equipment, the costs amounting to 11 euros per child (50 201. 53 Malagasy Ariary).
We are launching this fund as a matter of urgency in the hope of saving the school year of as many children as possible before the start of the school year.
Allowing children to follow a school year will have an impact in the short and long term:
â—Ź Integrating a school curriculum allows them to ensure safety by following an adapted learning program with adults who have the ability to transmit their knowledge. Despite the establishment of laws to prohibit child labor in Madagascar, forced labor from the age of 5 is still very present in this country in great poverty. By working in climatic and physical conditions close to slavery, they are drastically deprived of the opportunity to build a future on solid foundations. Children in very precarious situations have no choice but to engage in prostitution where they experience abuse or sexual assault and exploitation in vanilla plantations or in mines and quarries.
â—Ź Having access to education from an early age is the basis for building a child’s future. Each school year is not to be overlooked as it is a new stage in development and learning, which will open doors to future prospects. Children will become actors in their society in the near future. Developing a wealth of knowledge and understanding is necessary to engage in mindful decision making. Indeed, forced labor is a brake on the development of the country.
By allowing access to education, children are not subjected to forced labor which dehumanizes them from a very young age and follows an appropriate school curriculum that secures them not only in the present but for their future. They will have the opportunity to make conscious decisions for their future and to be an actor in their society.
All donations from this fund will be used to pay for children’s registration. Every donation is important.
